Friday, January 8, 2016 - A bit heavy on the oak at the initial attack after PnP. As it warmed from cellar to room temp and got some air, it really started to open up. Some nice tart cherry notes on the nose, with hints of capsicum, roasted red peppers, and a nice acidic tone in the nose. A bit muted now on the attack, with a sweet mid palate that still shows its oak. Some nice acidity lifts the finish a bit. Enjoyable, but not as complex or evolved as I would have liked. After two hours or so it begins to fade and become even less interesting. At its best, its first hour, it was a treat, but then backed down. The score then is cumulative taking into account the high and low.
