Wednesday, November 1, 2023 - Frankly, this is very 2012, but in a good way. Expressive and autumnal on the nose with depths of dried black cherries, cloves, allspice and hints of split pine, all lifted by mentholated herbs. It's silky, nearly fleshy in feel, with ultra-ripe strawberry and blueberry compote balanced by zesty acidity under an air of violet pastile. A bit of heat pokes out, yet I find it forgivable, as the 2012 finishes remarkably fresh yet long, leaving salted licorice and hints of balsamic spice to fade slowly. I don't see this getting any better with time. Drink up.
