This is a superbly charming wine that is in a lovely condition at the moment. There is still lots of fruit left, but the tannins have properly softened and integrated. The wine provides a beautiful aroma and flavor palette of ripe red and dark fruits, herbs, garrigue and spices.

Pnp. Medium+ ruby in colour. Sweet red stewed cherries, prunes, with some lavenders and roses are noted aromas. On the palate, there are ripe strawberries and cherries with bits of blackberries, black licorice and tobacco. Medium bodied with a medium+ finish.

Frankly, this is very 2012, but in a good way. Expressive and autumnal on the nose with depths of dried black cherries, cloves, allspice and hints of split pine, all lifted by mentholated herbs. It's silky, nearly fleshy in feel, with ultra-ripe strawberry and blueberry compote balanced by zesty acidity under an air of violet pastile. A bit of heat pokes out, yet I find it forgivable, as the 2012 finishes remarkably fresh yet long, leaving salted licorice and hints of balsamic spice to fade slowly. I don't see this getting any better with time. Drink up.

Over three years since I last tried a bottle and it is still drinking nicely. Red fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, red plums, sweet pipe tobacco, hints of sandalwood and spices. Served with a platter of grilled sausage both chicken and pork.

Coffee, chocolate, cherries, mixed herbs and a hint of pine. Chewy texture, still a lot of structure but good balance and handles the alcohol well. Quite bitter overall. Better with food than without, paired with herby wild boar sausage and dill-stewed potatoes.

This is a nice vintage of this wine. I like that comes across more tart than sweet. There is a nice balance of fruit, acidity and a little tannin remaining. Paired well with a couple chickens cooked on a spit over a wood fire. Ann liked it, too.

A wonderful expression of a Grenache based CdP with notes of red fruit, underbrush, graphite and Mediterranean spice. Good depth and texture. The aromatics are pleasing. This is drinking nicely today and I see no reason to delay consumption. Good juice.
Fairly deep ruby black Ripe dark berry opening, then huge tannins rush in. Perhaps the most backward grenache based wine I’ve had in a while. Lovely wine, needs time. Hold. Hold…

This is an excellent wine. Decanted about an hour and then drank over two days. Floral and cooked cherry nose and then red fruits, a little licorice and an earthy finish. Balanced and nicely integrating tannins. I plan to wait a couple of years before opening the next bottle but definitely drinking solidly now.

This is not quite as hedonistic as the best vintages of this wine, but it is very convincing anyway. The wine is full-bodied and fruity, and it reveals pleasant aromas and flavors of dark fruits, herbs and spices.

Boom!

Decanted 1 hour Dark purple color with distinct clear rim around the edge. Blackberry jam, raspberry, plum, slight pepper, nose. Black berry, coffee flavors, way too young. A bit closed still. Weight medium plus, acid medium. A little bitter flavors. For me this was lacking a bit of character from other vintages I have had. That being said it was drunk very early.

A lovely effort which at first exhibits the lovely yet elegant mature sun warm fruit so typical for this region. Mature strawberry and a whiff of blueberry are accompanied by garrigue, saddle leather and the type of fresh herb scent you get in a green house on a summer day. But do not be mistaken, there is nothing "hot" or over the top here. Exquisite balance and certainly elegance are two words to remember from this tasting. The palate adds nicely to the overall experience with all components in place. Perhaps a hard edge or two, but those will mellow and integrate in due course. A lovely wine - well worth seeking out. (score is 94+)

Selected this wine to serve at our wedding. Did not disappoint. Nose rich with cherries, cassis, kirsch, leather, undergrowth. On the palate, very juicy (good acidity) and remarkably "light on its feet" despite the 15.5% alcohol. Deliciously long finish, and the wine just kept getting better in the glass. Approachable now.

Hdr Closing Tasting: This was really good. Its everything the regular cuvee is only more intense. earthy with dark cherries and black raspberries. Bright acidity. Complex though tightly packed. Long finish. Plenty of upside as well. Maybe the best CdP of the weekend.

91 pts

Drunk over 2 nights, enjoyable for both. Med-full body, excellent grenache fruit without the 'fruit bomb' found in some CNDP. Well balanced with moderate tannin, good acid. Aromatic without distinctive scent elements, same for flavors. This is a nice wine to drink now, and prospectively. Whether it will be an ethereal experience is up for grabs ... doubt it although forecast it will age well. In youth it doesn't possess the complexity of a young Beaucastel, my favorite. Doesn't mean it couldn't be interesting old as a 60's Jaboulet Les Cedres was for me. Bottom line ... this wine is a very good buy at $38/btl. Go for it. Maybe a 92, today a 91, nothing amiss, nothing superlative.

Dark, sour cherries on the nose with licorice and blackberries. Well structured palate with lots of complex integration through the mid/late palate. If a cherry was dropped on a tarry forest floor, and then mixed with green peppers and sprinkled with menthol, white pepper, floral herbiness, and finished off with a grape warhead you'd get this wine.

Juicy kirsch notes, silky textures and sweet, spicy fruits in the finish. Produced from a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsualt, the wine reached 15% alcohol.

Two bottles in, and I really like this vintage. Structured, and dry with no sense of sweetness. Some spice. Big, but not too big.
I bought these for years but stopped after this vintage because I had been finding them too big and sweet.
I hope to see her at the festival next week and taste the newer vintages. I may rethink that depending on what I find.

Drunk over two evenings.
With 15% abv and a hint of sweetness, seems to be aimed squarely at the international market
Big in the tradition of CdP, it left a domestic grenache as roadkill. The syrah component added structure and pepper to match stilton.
Thinking of the compariso, lifted rating from 91 to 92
