Sunday, April 13, 2014 - A lovely representation of this varietal with classic flavors and aromas and a strong tannic backbone. Clear and ruby-colored with fast legs, This wine strikes the nose first with a strong slate aroma, then opens up with blackberry, plum, violet, gingerbread spice and a hint of game. Blackberry jam on the attack, leather on the midpalate and a lingering finish tinged by gingerbread spice. It is medium to full bodied. This is a lovely sipping wine, and also pairs well with roasted meats.
