Sunday, June 30, 2013 - 2003 seems to be a huge problem as far as expression of terroir. To me practically every wine in Bordeaux seems the same right now.
This wine was wonderful when I had it a few years ago. Now the nose is potent and porty, much the same as a million other 2003s I have had recently. Perhaps a little more concentrated, but certainly lacking a unique character. It has lost all the silkiness it possessed in its youth. Reasonable palate but an astonishingly short finish for a Sociando.
For the vintage, it's above average. However this is shaping up to be one of the worst Bordeaux vintages for 20 years in my opinion. Drink up.
