Saturday, October 18, 2003 - Dark yellow, brownish in colour. Roasted nuts and abricot and orange peel scents coming out of the glass. In the mouth the wine is honeyed, packed with botrytis and fresh, ripe fruit, but there’s no sign of heaviness, or gross overblown sweetness. Why would there be? This is Yquem, and if anything, this wine is fresh, flambouyant and elegant all at the same time. Concentrated and complex beyond description, wrapped up in a finish that I can still taste. What can I say?
