1975 Château d'Yquem

Community Tasting Note

flawed

Friday, January 21, 2011 - From a half-bottle. Signs of past seepage and a deteriorated cork. Amber colour. A nose of barley, brown sugar, and marmalade, all reminiscent of d'Yquem. On the palate, strong signs of poor storage, with bitter notes overwhelming almost all else. On the other hand, there are still residual notes of the potential greatness of this wine; the complexity is still lingering there. But the bitterness really does overtake everything else in the end. You can taste the powerful acidity and potential, but it is only a shadow of what it could be. Not scored.
