Wednesday, December 26, 2007 - Gorgeous nose of rasberries, smokiness, and a touch of brett. The palate starts off with wonderfully bright fruit, lined with fantastic acidity. The smoke element continues as well. However, the brett effects the finish, and it doesn't work with this wine. It takes away from the beautiful fruit. All in all, an extremely nice syrah, and I love the fact that it's not heavy like so many N. Cali Syrah's. But I don't see how you could argue that it isn't drastically overpriced. I could see half of suggested retail as a fair price, but it would have difficulty fighting with the top wines even at that price point. I'm assuming the names and vineyard are carrying this wine. Easy pass for the price.
