Tuesday, January 2, 2007 - Decanted 1 hr. A little bit shy on the nose for the first 1 ½ hours, but did finally offer up some aromas of sweet plums and licorice with aggressive swirling. The initial impression in the mouth was almost Paulliac-like, that is, a core of red raspberry fruit, loads of pipe tobacco and shades of minerals. Mid palate however, steers this ship back to the Rhone with kirsch and olive nuances, herb flavors develop, and this does seem indeed a classic CdP. The finish is felt all the way down the throat, and needless to say this kept getting richer and more defined with extended airtime in the glass. No need to compare to the 03 at this point, this is damn fine juice.
