Thursday, May 11, 2023 - Funny, but I drink very little syrah, so I'll provide some general observations. The wine was quite dark and quite alive at 13 years. Nose and palate are, and remain, very rich. Meaty with dark berries dominate. Early on, the wine had a bit of a tin can component on the nose/palate, which I often find in Syrahs and attribute to the idiosyncrasies of my palate. Settles down a bit with air. The next day, I noticed more elderberry (maybe cassis) on the nose - interesting.
Overall, an enjoyable wine and good example of how a RRV AVA wine can hold its own. Should continue to age.
