Funny, but I drink very little syrah, so I'll provide some general observations. The wine was quite dark and quite alive at 13 years. Nose and palate are, and remain, very rich. Meaty with dark berries dominate. Early on, the wine had a bit of a tin can component on the nose/palate, which I often find in Syrahs and attribute to the idiosyncrasies of my palate. Settles down a bit with air. The next day, I noticed more elderberry (maybe cassis) on the nose - interesting.
Overall, an enjoyable wine and good example of how a RRV AVA wine can hold its own. Should continue to age.

Christmas wine. Opened up tight and meaty. With a short decant, the layers of flavor roll on -- black and purple fruit, dried currant, black olive, and pepper. Holding strong, but with the tannins so well intregrated why wait? Me - 93, Wife 92

I opened this for Thanksgiving. Better as Pnp than with extended air. Nice dark fruits (plum, boysenberry, blackberry) with some attractive violet flavors and then licorice, black olive, bell pepper, smoke, and cayenne pepper on the finish. Well-balanced acid provides some freshness. Paired decently well with Thanksgiving dinner. Attractive but, to me, a bit simplistic. Better than the Plumpjack Syrah, which was too much of an over-extracted fruit bomb, but not as nuanced as the Radio Coteau Cherry Camp Syrah. I think I hit it at a good spot in its development (8-10 years seems about right for California Syrah). A fine wine, but I struggle to love new World Syrah. I drank the whole thing on the first day. Best in Zalto All Purpose.

Beautiful, full bodied and still some fruit, though won't last much longer. REally opened up after a few hours of decanting.
