Saturday, February 10, 2018 - Avize. Said to be a blend of 2008/2009. Quite creamy with super-fine perlage, rich yet bone dry with firm acidity. Quite different from rich, buttery/biscuit flavors one might find in Mesnil, this shows just-ripe pome fruits with a touch of mandarin and kiwi. Good concentration. Layered over this are moderately oxidative and rather strongly developed flavors that are quite unique, giving this the impression of a mature wine with youthful vitality. I'd have guessed this was older than a 2008/2009, perhaps 2002. Very interesting.
