Saturday, November 14, 2009 - Decanted an hour. Needed it. Crimson-cranberry colored with some umber edges Intoxicating nose of violets, black cherries, a freshly cooled-down blueberry pie, and pencil shavings. The palate has the same black cherry, cool blueberry, some black currant, tar, kirsch, leather, earth, a hint of underbrush, and flowers. This is a pure and elegant mid-weighted Shiraz surely reminiscent of the Grange I had some weeks back, just fuller and brighter, but equally as lush. An admirable lengthy finish with the black cherry never really dissipating for a few minutes. The neutral oak sure adds to the dimension and style. A silky tannin layer with the fruit never letting up. What a fun wine to have around for a rainy Saturday in the burbs.
