Monday, October 6, 2014 - Very dark, almost black cherry red color that permits only very little light through. The nose feels somewhat reticent with quite sweet aromas of cherry and blackcurrant marmalade, some Maraschino cherries, a little bit of stemmy greenness, a hint of dried dark fruits and a touch of soy sauce. The wine feels rich, full-bodied and quite dense on the palate with moderrate alcohol warmth and intense - even a bit robust - flavors of sweet black cherries, exotic spices, blackcurrant marmalade, some stemmy greenness and a hint of sweet, toasty spice. Although quite big, the wine feels quite balanced with its moderate acidity and ripe, lightly gripping tannins. The finish is warm and spicy with rich flavors of ripe cherries and sweet red fruits along with some bitterness and a hint of blackberry marmalade.

A dense, weighty and easy Primitivo that feels very typical of the variety, but doesn't come across as excessively sweet nor overdone as they usually do. Overall a pretty predictable and somewhat uninspiring Puglian red, but fortunately better than expected. Shows good varietal qualities and balanced structure. A pretty decent effort.
