Friday, September 11, 2015 - Vibrant purple color. Juicy blackberries, rasperries, red cherries, gushing yet tart, dashed with clove, violets, sweet eucalyptus and anise cookies. Forward but maintains freshness on the palate, fleshy tannins, tart acid, an easily drinkable 14.1% alcohol. Tart blackberry and cherry fruit, gushing summer plums, tart skins, throw the pits in there too, that’s the flavor profile. Complex notes of mossy soil, wet leaves, coffee grounds, and this sweet spice combo like eucalyptus, black pepper and soy, and I love it. Full and boisterous, yet still elegant, lingering graphite and rock elements. An old vine beauty. Even more expressive and refined on day two. I’d love to revisit this in three years. Carignane, Zinfandel and Mourvedre.
