Sunday, October 14, 2018 - I'm about as big of a Bedrock fan as it gets, but this wine was a hot mess at PnP. A massive oak bomb that I could barely stand to take a sniff of. Let it sit in the bottle for 4 hours and it settled down some to reveal some purple florals and red fruits....but still masked by a wall of oak. I love the Evangelo story and always want to like these wines more but they're never my favorite Bedrock offering. Combine that with the fact that pretty much all single vineyard BR wines I've tried from the 13 vintage seem to need a LOT more time, makes this a complete and utter HOLD.

Day 2 and this has toned down quite a bit with the oak much less prominent. Now a nice wine with savory purple fruits and a hint of orange/citrus on the finish (long finish which is probably my favorite part). Definitely better tonight compared to yesterday, but still not setting my world on fire. I'll take a Bedrock/Dolinsek/Pagani/Mo nteRosso Heritage over this any day of the week.

10/14/2018 8:04:00 PM - Interesting note, out of all the 130 + notes on cellartracker I don't see anyone say anything about excessive oak? (not that I read every one of them) I have a couple but have not tried one yet so cannot comment. Sorry to hear it

10/14/2018 9:31:00 PM - I was kinda surprised as well. I havent read any of the other notes but I drink a good amount of Bedrock back to the first 2007 vintage, and while I typically dont find the oak to be prevalent at all on many/any of their wines, it definitely was on this bottle. Literally all I could smell/taste at PnP. Better day 2 for sure but far from my favorite wine Morgan/Chris have produced.

10/15/2018 7:58:00 PM - It was more than that buddy. Wood and just not well integrated day 1. Day 2 was better. And I'm generally a Mouvedre fan for what its worth.

11/8/2018 3:29:00 PM - Rich, just opened this...randomly pulled from the wine cabinet. So far, better than your note (whew!). Will post a formal note later.
