Saturday, July 25, 2020 - Beautiful Mourvedre (Mataro) profile: spicy, savory, meat drippings, licorice, Christmas spice, filled in crunch red fruit of Carignane with some Zinfandel bramble. Firm acidity and more tannin than I remember from an earlier bottle. Needs several hours to open up and should age well another 2 to 4 years.

Congrats to Bedrock for choosing to focus on this very old vineyard with a high Mourvedre content. The sandy soils have allowed Mataro to survive on its own roots. It was not until the after WWII that Mataro could be matched with a phylloxera resistant root stock.
