Dark red in color and full in body, the wine offers incredible aromas of black cherry, espresso bean, forest floor, and dried herbs. This presented as more tightly coiled than many Napa 2012s, but - unlike some of my CT brethren - I think the wine is incredible right now. If you want something more integrated and subtle, I’d wait a few more years. Even with a few rough edges, though, this wine has singular complexity and class, with only good things to come. I am a newcomer to the Abreu wines, but I think Thorevilos is my favorite. 97 for now, with upside in 2022 and later.
