This dense and layered Cabernet needed about three hours to open up, but it was marvelous once it did. Dark red in color and full in body, the wine offers incredible aromas of black cherry, espresso bean, forest floor, and dried herbs. The flavors are just as intense, with notes of blueberry, graphite, cocoa powder, fresh embers, and peppercorn, with a grainy and layered finish. Blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Petit Verdot. 14.5% alcohol.
This presented as more tightly coiled than many Napa 2012s, but - unlike some of my CT brethren - I think the wine is incredible right now. If you want something more integrated and subtle, I’d wait a few more years. Even with a few rough edges, though, this wine has singular complexity and class, with only good things to come. I am a newcomer to the Abreu wines, but I think Thorevilos is my favorite. 97 for now, with upside in 2022 and later.

How can we be disappointed in a 95-point wine? Because we expected to be blown away by a $400 Parker 100-pointer and we weren't. Yes, delicious, but I think my review of a year ago was correct: I said then it seemed to fade after three hours, and this bottle clearly has lost fruit and flavor in the twelve months since.
A real beauty, big and full. Parker says "opulent" and that's the right word. Could use a bit more time, although it's terrific now with only 30+ minutes of air. Oddly, it seemed to fade a bit after three hours. A treat.

Megamoon Part I: Napa; 10/13/2015-10/16/2015 (Napa Valley California): After trying a few of the '13s from the tank, Brad opened the '12 Thorevilos and wow is this wine something. Like many of the '12s it's approachable and drinking well now. I didn't take detailed notes, but the wine just went on and on and was constantly evolving. It was fantastic.

Floral, black raspberry, wet earth and tobacco might open the wine, but that is only where the fun starts, not where it ends. The wine coats your mouth and palate with flavor and intensity. There is a beautiful sense of purity to the fruit that’s made even better with the vibrant, fresh energetic personality and the sensuous textured finish.

A BYO at the Prime Rib in Baltimore. With their prime strip steak, a perfect wine.
