Friday, January 5, 2024 - I revisit this Port every time I fly through the Zurich airport as it is served in frequent-traveller lounges. I’m always excited for it because it’s by far the best wine offered.

On the nose, there are prunes and raisins followed by distinct caramel and toffee. There are more distant aromas of coffee and oak, maraschino cherries.
On the palate, it’s very full bodied and a little too high in alcohol for me as the burn continues through the finish and lingers a little bit. The acidity is medium. There is more coffee now, some dates and stewed plums. Red fruit pie with brown sugar and explicit cloves.
Despite the alcohol burn, the finish is mostly pleasant with the red fruit and coffee notes.

8+/18
