Thursday, February 9, 2017 - Beautiful bright tawny colour. Nose of chocolate caramels, oak and pine, slightly sherry. More sherry oxidation when you taste it, vanilla and nuts, but the overwhelming impression for me is the alarming bite of harsh spirit. For me this wipes out any subtle tawny pleasure; there's little fruit, no complexity, just the astonishing, fiery snarl of ethanol.

The thing is, for only a few pounds more you could have a fantastic single quinta vintage port that's simply streets ahead in terms of quality; and in my opinion you'd definitely get more for your money. Not sure I'm even going to manage to finish this bottle - that doesn't often happen.
