Monday, February 23, 2009 - Open 6-days now w/ the cork-stopper plugging it; in glass 30-min before scoring. Orange-tawny color. At this point, it's pretty potent in the bouquet where the alcohol is overwhelmed by the heavy caramel, whipped cream, and orange-rind porty smells. There's also a nice floral perfume aroma that's truly intoxicating. On the palate, some heat shows, especially with a super-sized sip. Otherwise, the flavors are quite intense -- nutty, figs on figs, bitter-sweet cream (turning condensed milk), orange spices... Fair and lengthy 25-sec finish. Not the most refined or polished mouthfeel but very high on the flavor intensity scale. Fair QPR at what I paid.
