Wednesday, June 14, 2017 - The Yquem dinner (Chicago, IL): There's no mistaking this for chardonnay. If served blind, I think I would have guessed chenin (which, come to think of it, is my catch-all for white wines I can't quite place). There's a little bit of earthy funk on the nose, but much more interesting is the palate, where you find tons of acidity, but it's not quite as linear as chardonnay can be. A bit of an oddball.
