Thursday, September 17, 2020 - I haven’t had a memorable clos de vougeot yet. Still haven’t unfortunately as I thought this Hudellot might do the trick but it didn’t. The nose on this wine is much better than the palate. I thought I was in for a treat on the aroma alone but the taste is a real let down. Initially it was quite tannic, in the furry sense, then the palate was so lean it became almost bitter. The wine is so damn lean! Have to say it doesn’t do it for me. Grand cru? Not even close but such is the minefield of Burgundy I’m not deterred as it just goes with the territory. For all the disappointments the great ones every once in a while make up for it. That’s the game in this region of France if you want consistency there’s plenty of Bordeaux to be had. It did soften a bit as it sat in the glass but this wine reminds me more of an okay village wine than a Grand cru of around $200.

Your experience is not reflected by any of the multiple others here...? In my experience if you stick with the well respected producers you should avoid disappointment 👍
