Thursday, December 15, 2016 - Opaque but bright ruby red turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose is quite attractive showing scents of violets, dark berries, licorice, and scorched earth. It displays a full body, dense structure, and creamy in texture showing ripeness of fruit but balanced by low-to-medium acidity and earthy nuances. Flavors of blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, dark chocolate, reduced sweet balsamic vinegar, tobacco and vanilla oak. This is quite an outstanding achievement, and slightly underrated by some critics. Finishes long with rounded tannin leaving hints of mineral, smoke and spice. Drink now until 2027.
