Sunday, December 27, 2020 - Virtual Holiday Wine Tasting (Home): Light medium gold color. Drank a glass blind over an hour plus. Everything is easier in hindsight. The reveal on this wine made perfect sense, as it was a California emulation of Burgundy. I found this a bit more oaky oout front tonight and a little complex and expressive than I expect from Aubert and from this bottle in particular. Yet, this was evolving and becoming more integrated and interesting right up to the last drop. At the outset, tart lemon, oak barrel and hints of fresh sea air on the nose. Gradually this showed more open wistful floral notes and pear fruits. The palate was similar with crisp acidity, tart citrus, mostly lemon blazing through, and oak; then after more than 40 minutes in glass this seemed to settle its oak and come more into to focus and show that class one would expect.
