Sunday, January 22, 2017 - Oaked Kool-Aid. French oak, obviously. Gentle all over with mild+ good tasting strawberry cherry juice flavour. Light sense of candy. A nice level of residual sweetness – it feels sweet, but fortunately not cloying. Very light tannins with a nicely balanced level of complementary light acidic sourness far in the background, all of which are overshadowed by oak. Translucent ruby colour with nice juicy, minty aroma. You could tell people at a party that it's strawberry cherry wine and most would probably believe it while saying how authentic and good the natural flavours taste. It does, however, have more than a little of that chemical feeling to it, but it could be that it's just the way I naturally perceive Zinfandel. This would go over well at a high school house party when the parents are away.
