Tuesday, April 13, 2021 - An absolutely phenomenal bottle of syrah, from a weak vintage no less. The nose is all classic syrah, with pronounced black peppercorn, olive brine and smoke, but also sweet black fruit and a little meatiness. Not high-toned, but the aromatic intensity here is just off the charts. The palate is pure silk. It is svelte and shapely, but is also impactful and potent. Most importantly, the palate delivers on every single promise that the nose makes. This may well be the best Côte-Rôtie these days.
