A wine we love and have tried more than 15 times over the 13 years. Last tasting was again from magnum in 2021 ( Papies 95) and albeit at this age there are good bottles not good wines this is a wine that never fails us albeit this time felt ab it fragile and less so on the palate. The nose is exceptional, a dream to classic well aged Bordeaux. Leather, tobacco, spice, light cedar , soft spice. Textbook beautiful wine . On the palate it was a bit softer than last few times given our notes but still effortlessly beautiful. One definitely needs to love the style of old clarets but St Juliens of the 1980s are a joy when sourced from good provenance. 94 this time. Drink sooner than later.
