Friday, November 19, 2021 - First bottle from a half case bought a few months ago based on good notes here and not having had Gruaud 85. I was never a fan of 1985 as a vintage (although it was considered excellent) my notes are peppered with comments about the lack of tannins and excess sweetness. At the time the 82s were a similar price and far better. Gentle clean nose of blackcurrant and cedar, beautifully balanced light to medium weight body and good length. A lovely moreish wine. Sublime Lafite like understatement; which is appropriate given Lafite was my favourite 85. Smoky aroma left in the empty glass.
