Sunday, November 14, 2021 - I would recommend a 3 hour decant to wake this wine up ( and it has already thrown
some sediment )., as the nose is quite closed initially. In appearance , an intense ruby , with definite legs , which bely the stated 13% alcohol! The aromas take a bit of coaxing, but eventually open up to show blackcurrants, raspberry cordial, hints of floral violets, cedar, and deeper notes of leather, sweet tobacco, and coffee. Acidity and tannins are still very evident, and flavours are of sour plums ,coffee, and tobacco, leading into a dry woody finish. Approachable now with a long decant, a couple more years in the cellar would do this wine no harm. Should develop for 5-7 years after that.
