Needs more time, too tannic, flavours are there but overwhelmed. If drinking this now must decant. Will probably revisit in 2-3 years. Shows promise though

Deep ruby color. Dry with strong tannins and fairly strong acidity. Blackberry, raspberry, vanilla, oak. Too tannic straight from bottle just to drink, but was good with food (Beef bourguignon). Probably should have decanted for a while. Would be interesting to try again with steak.

I would recommend a 3 hour decant to wake this wine up ( and it has already thrown some sediment )., as the nose is quite closed initially. In appearance , an intense ruby , with definite legs , which bely the stated 13% alcohol! The aromas take a bit of coaxing, but eventually open up to show blackcurrants, raspberry cordial, hints of floral violets, cedar, and deeper notes of leather, sweet tobacco, and coffee. Acidity and tannins are still very evident, and flavours are of sour plums ,coffee, and tobacco, leading into a dry woody finish. Approachable now with a long decant, a couple more years in the cellar would do this wine no harm. Should develop for 5-7 years after that.

Disappointing, especially following my good review of a previous bottle from this case. The fruit didn't show and there was a slight hint of oxidisation. I'm hoping this is just a single poor bottle.

dark floral leafy nose, sweet ash, cassis and soft stems. Cedar and sweet tobacco, almost hint of chocolate. Silky, balanced, drinking now, or leave for a few more years. Great with Xanadu steak from mongolia.
