Tuesday, March 17, 2015 - Retirement lunch at Cap Grille for my dear friend Laura on January 7th... Wine opens with subtle nose, classic Margaux accents, vanilla, cherry and leather she comes together making a wonderful pairing with our lamb chops and porterhouse steak. She loses some intensity as the hours drag, I'd consume the next bottle within an hour or so. Decent length, but nothing close to her big sister. You can tell it's Margaux, but i'd say Margaux light. I found their 2009 third wine a better value and far better potential than this Pavillon. Not to say it's bad at all, just better than most second wines, and probably a bit expensive for what it is.
