93 Points

Wednesday, August 14, 2019 - Opened this afternoon. Very astringent finish initially with lots of oak and ash. The nose initially was worthy of a 96. Wildflowers, herb-rich, sweet fruit, but quite a bit of oak. Palate was soft, yet rather powerful. Wild herb, black cherry, fig, ash, sweet tobacco and rather complex. Would have gone perfectly with a marinated pork loin and herb roasted potatoes. Still getting quite a bit of astringency and acidity on the finish. Capable of so much more. Goes to show you the structure of the second wine of Ch Margaux!
