91 Points

Thursday, May 28, 2020 - Pours garnet with golden edges. Legs are medium high. No sediment. The nose is cherry and red tart fruit. Upon vigorous swirling after an hour or more wet hay/funk appears on the nose. On the palate initially we get tart red fruits, i.e., cherry. Somewhat hot (alcohol), finish is medium high tannin. Body is medium. I think this is a fine expression of a six plus year old Brunello. Enjoyed with take out Italian food on the porch on a nice evening with the Amazon mix of "Italian Dinner Music" playing. My wife, daughter and son in law share the bottle. A delightful evening. Then only negative was that I wanted to hear Andrea Bocelli sing Con Te Partirò in solo but my wife insisted in the Sarah Brightman duet. She always wins in music selection. BUT, I'm just saying, Andrea Bocelli solo singing Con Te Partirò will add ten points to anything you are drinking.

6/10/2020 6:52:00 PM - Opened another bottle of this same wine and same vintage on June 10, 2020. Similar situation with take out Italian food on the porch. I would not change much in the description. Maybe I just don't get Brunello but there are Chianti Classico bottles that I prefer. I might lower the rating to 87. I don't get much development in the glass even after two hours. Tart cherry on the pallet and alcohol and red fruit on the nose.
