Friday, October 23, 2009 - WFA Bordeaux 2005/2006 Tasting by the Wine Review (Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore): May be a really top-notch Sauternes 20-30 years down the road, but just too sweet at the moment for my palate. Incredible nose though - tighter than the 2006, with lots of mineral, but a whole lot more depth as well, with deeply lurking scents of musk. peach, apricot and layers of botrytis. Palate was just an explosion of sweetness. Honey, nectar, some musk, sweet melons, all wrapped in a plush, syrupy, unctuous package. Finish was lovely. Great length, with mouth-clinging dried fruit tones and a little kumquat touch. Will visit again many years down the road.
