Community Tasting Note

94 Points

Saturday, March 15, 2008 - I initially thought that the WS score of 93 might have been a little high when I first saw it but I now think that it is quite accurate. This is one of our favorite Sauternes and is still decently priced. We went through several bottles of the 2003 and by the time we ran out, the 2005 was on the shelf. Some honey and floral notes on the nose with a bit of citrus fruit and you can actually smell the sweetness as well. The nose actually reminded me of a good icewine, which seemed a little odd at first. The flavors, sweetness, and body were all commingling very well. I haven't tasted a lot of vintages of Doisy-Védrines, but I would hazard a guess to say that this is the best they have done in a long time.
