Sunday, January 14, 2024 - Garnet with slight orange hue in thin layers. Bramble, black currants, tobacco, decaying wet leaves, terpenoid pine or so notes, pencil shavings. On the palate in addition forest floor, round but still present tannins and excellent length ending on this interesting terpenoid note and black fruit. This bottle is from a warmer than textbook cellar reaching 18°-19° C in summer and with 15°C in winter. This in mind it is a bit of a surprise to me, how well this ages, not a bit tired, but full of energy. Though there is a lot of sediment in the bottle, my advice is not to decant it. Just stand it upright for some hours or if you insist to make a decant for cosmetic reasons, don't give it more airtime, but serve it directly after the decant. 5/12/17/9. Still in its optimal drinking window for sure from my cellar. -2030+, Excellent to outstanding.
