Saturday, September 23, 2017 - Tasted Blind (Coravin access)

A: Pale lemon green
N: Peach, pear, butter, vanilla, coconut, geranium, frangipane and roses and JTH quite rightly pointed out FENNEL
Pronounced Intensity. Youthful
P: Dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%) full body, pronounced intensity and long finish
C: Drink now. Very Good Quality Wine.
I LOVE this wine. Thought it was an unusual Gewürztraminer at first. Somehow, the winemakers cheekily have very apparent new french oak in this and yet there is sufficient fruit and acidity (thanks to the elevated Cafayate region in Salta) to compete with it. This is AUDACIOUS winemaking and at $22 a bottle, i will buy this conversation starter again in a heartbeat. Houston Wine Merchants has at last given me a win!!!
Popped the bottle open after Coravin access because it was too good not to down with my aromatic Thai supper.

3 days later. (not under argon) ...
All citrus, oak and fennel. The florals have largely disappeared. Very different to first opening. You don't want to open and leave sitting about unless its under argon.
