Thursday, May 6, 2021 - No introduction needed here, even if this château has been a relative underperformer.
Colour: v deep red, v thin rim, brick tinge.
Nose: full, v ripe, verging on mature but still vibrantly fresh, cassis after a good couple of hours, still hints of Bovril when first opened, earthy notes, q classic St Estèphe in spite of the high Merlot content.
Taste: med body, somewhat sharp, ok fruit, definite acidity, v cassis, long finish but hot (13% ABV only!), astringent as in other notes about this wine.
Overall, typical of the property for the time: classic St Estèphe but without the refinement of its peers. Still a treat, sentimentally, to taste.
