Friday, April 3, 2015 - Poured into decanter and drank over several hours. Needs a good 30min to open up. Dark garnet almost to the rim. Very pretty nose with initially forest floor, then potato chips and some herbs. Medium bodied, dark fruit, oak, some tobacco. Better than 2 or 3 years ago as there is now more substance on the mid palate. Fine tannins. Medium finish.
One of the few 2005 that never seemed to have closed down as the tannins were always gentle and not intrusive. If anything could have done with just a touch less oak for my taste but an excellent wine and great QPR (at least a few years ago). Ready now, but no rush, this will certainly last 10 years.
