Monday, July 17, 2017 - Very ready now with an hour's decant of this 375. The smokey St Estephe tones are nicely blended with the generous fruit in 2005 to yield a far more sophisticated Phelan Segur than in years past, when it was more angular. Smoke, forest scents, animal , tree bark, dark cherry/cassis and a very full mouth fell, with only a slight rough edge to the velvet.
