Saturday, February 8, 2020 - Drank over 2 days. 6th bottle in fairly regular intervals since 2012. This has softened since my last bottle in 2018 but I do not like the wine as much as I did in 2015 when it was still showing some of its youthful richness. One of the few 2005 that never closed down.
On day 1 this is showing as a traditional and strict St Estephe, correct but perhaps a bit too restrained to be a lot of fun to drink. On day 2 (open bottle in fridge over night), this is soft and mellow, clearly showing the fairly high share of Merlot with some toast, and wanting me to see a bit more of the rigidity and Cab Sauv features of day 1.
Would give it a good decant and drink over the next 3-4 years.
