Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - Domaine de Chevalier vertical with Olivier Bernard (Le Cafe Descartes at the French Embassy): Medium expressive nose with slightly coiled red fruit, cherry and strawberry, also a hint of crème de cassis, licorice, caramel, lead pencil, mocha, ash and crushed rock. Very good concentration, finely layered coiled concentrated red fruit, silky and fluid, medium acidity, strong mineral, slightly coarse tannins and a medium to long red fruit driven finish with cedar and ash at the end. The fruit is a bit coiled, giving a lean impression. Considering the vintage, a bit disappointing. Hopefully it will open up in a few years.
