Saturday, April 23, 2016 - 2014 de Villaine Wines with Winemaker Pierre de Benoist (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Medium red color. Red fruits and brambly aromas, clay. Light to medium weight, a light dusting of clay, fine discrete fruit, earth, a touch of pepper, and lively acidity. Not overly ripe but lovely feel, good tartness, gentle tannins. Some richness on the mid-palate, then crisper finish. Very, very good and eminently approachable now.
