93 Points

Sunday, August 28, 2022 - 1st bottle from a dozen bought en primeur. Tasted a barrel sample and rated a potential 93 which is well deserved. My notes on Cantemerle go back to a lovely 1961 drunk 1993 and have always had an undertone of being surprised by the high quality and balance of the wine for a 5th growth and the excellent QPR. I never seem to learn and this vintage is no exception. An absolute steal for £210 IB a dozen at release. For several decades a more consistent Chateau than some 1st growths. This bottle has blackcurrant and mostly tobacco on the nose which I'm sure will develop further as I get through the bottle and with age. A beautifully balanced medium weight body with loads of very soft tannins. Excellent length of finish. Drinking well now and will continue to improve. The few 2015s I've had recently are drinking young.

12/17/2022 12:25:00 PM - I was wondering when I should crack my case open. All my bottles thus far have been retail singles. I had the opening of my case scheduled for 2024, but on the strength of your experience, I may have to try a bottle soon after the new year…

    Thanks!
