2015 Château Cantemerle

93 Points

Wednesday, March 24, 2021 - (3/24/21) From a 750ml bottle purchased from a local retailer. The wine was decanted for 3 hours.

This example was loaded with cassis and cranberry on the nose and was just beginning to show a touch of tobacco leaf. The palate was well concentrated and absolutely packed with cassis. The balance was excellent, and the tannins were ripe and very much in check.

It was certainly no sin to pull the cork on this bottle. I expected it to be completely (or almost completely) primary, but that’s what I was looking for—a really nice young wine just entering its drinking window. Cantemerle seldom fails me, and this bottle was perfect for tonight. 13% abv. (***+/16.5/93)

Thus far, I’ve been drinking retail singles of this and was going to let my case rest until 2024. What do you think? Should I let it rest some more?

This is no sipper but you must like acidity and aerate it 5-6 hrs. 2-10 years laydown will always help. So from seems a good idea!
