Wednesday, November 16, 2016 - Color: Golden yellow similar to Muser Blanc in color.
Smell: This wine smells more like Cantillon beer than any other wine I've had in my life. If you like the smell of Cantillon or Drie Fontaine, you'll love the smell of this wine. It's basically notes of cider, camomile tea, with a faint hint of smokiness in the background.
Taste: This seems a bit oxidized initially, apples, lime, kiwi dominate the palate with a lingering dryness on the finish.
Overall: Well, once again. I had to know what the Pepe wines were like...and even though this is young, I'm glad I opened it. I'm not sure what or how to assess this wine to be honest. It reminds me a bit like the LdH Rioja Blancs or Muser Blanc. It's singularly unique and as weird as it is...I think I really like it. I'd be curious to see what a bottle like this with some age on it is like. For now...I'd say that it's excellent with room to improve. It's certainly a wine that's worth trying if you like white wines and you want something very unique.
