Saturday, November 11, 2017 - Annual K&L Grand Burgundy Tasting (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Deeper ruby than anything that preceded it. Powerful soil-driven aromas. Red/black fruit that is neither too sweet nor too ripe atop a base of soil and minerality. Dense. Firmly tannic spine, excellent stone and penetration in the mouth. Wow, this manages to be serious and classic even in the context of this bigger, riper vintage. Wonderful wine for the distant future, although unlike Faiveley Corton of days yore, this not too brutal to taste today. Its potential is crystal clear. My favorite red of the tasting by a wide margin.
