Monday, February 12, 2024 - One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Slight sediment in screen. During decant, the nose was numb. Wine was clear; still opaque garnet with no bricking. After resting, the nose had muscled up: bloody meat, red fruit, smoke and dried flowers. Initially the palate was typical Chianti Classico: bright red fruit with some depth and good balance. During the meal, the wine continued to develop, taking on weight and adding forest floor and black licorice components that had the effect of enhancing the wine's balance. Long finish suggesting the forest floor and licorice. Quite good with lamb chops.
